Verbs with an Extra Vowel - e
There is an excellent and detailed description about the underlying forms of verbs with an extra "e" in Wıı̀lıı̀deh Yatıı̀ Wet’à Edàgot’ı̨ Yatıı̀ Enı̨htł’è, p. 10 - 14. For our purposes, for the time being, we need to pay attention to three things:
First: Notice that most of the vowels in the middle syllable are long vowels, and often the same vowel. Be aware that not all
speakers will pronounce these verbs the same way.
Second: In the first person, dual form, the middle syllable "wı̀d" (or "dı̀" in the case of Mrs. Francois) changes to "ı̀".
Third: In the second person singular form, the middle syllable "ne" that we are used to seeing from other verbs becomes "ı̨".
Example 1: eetł’è - to draw or write something
